Who We Are
The AGYW Health and Wellness Alliance is a pioneering initiative created by young women in Kenya, aimed at empowering adolescent girls and young women to lead healthier lives. The organization focuses on providing crucial education about reproductive health, mental wellness, and healthy living through engaging outreach programs and school workshops. We also support young women struggling with substance use by offering harm reduction services and collaborating with local organizations to promote safer practices.
Our Founders
Atieno Marveline is a passionate advocate for the well-being of adolescent girls and young women, deeply committed to empowering them to lead healthier and more fulfilled lives. With a strong focus on mental health, reproductive health, and harm reduction, she strives to create safe, nurturing spaces where her fellow young women can learn, grow, and access life-changing resources. Her work is especially centered on addressing the unique challenges faced by young women who use drugs, ensuring they have the support they need to overcome stigma and make informed choices. Driven by a vision of healthier, resilient communities, she is dedicated to promoting self-care, mental wellness, and sustainable harm reduction solutions that give young women the confidence to take control of their futures. Through her efforts, she hopes to inspire a new generation of young women to thrive, free from judgment and equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
At just 23, Purity founded an organization dedicated to empowering adolescent girls and young women, driven by her desire to provide the support she wished she had during her own teenage years. Growing up, she saw many young women around her struggling with self-confidence, educational opportunities, and societal pressures, and she knew change was possible with the right guidance. Her organization offers mentorship, workshops, and a safe community where girls are encouraged to embrace their potential and pursue their dreams. Through her leadership, Purity is inspiring a generation of young women to believe in themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives and communities.
